La Société de Lecture est heureuse de vous convier à une rencontre avec Giles Milton.
Giles Milton is the million-copy, internationally bestselling author of twelve works of narrative history. His books have been translated into 25 languages. Milton’s previous work, Churchill’s Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, entered the Sunday Times bestseller list in the week of publication. It is currently being developed into a major TV series. Milton’s other books include D-Day: The Soldiers’ Story, Nathaniel’s Nutmeg, serialized by the BBC, Samurai William, White Gold, Paradise Lost: Smyrna 1922. His most recent book tells the post-war fate of Berlin, sealed at the Yalta Conference in 1945. The city and the rest of Germany were to be divided between the victorious powers – American, British, French and Soviet. But once their common goal of defeating Germany had disappeared, the four powers soon returned to their pre-war hostility. Rival ideologies and personalities made the German capital an explosive battleground. Checkmate in Berlin (Berlin Année Zéro, Noir sur Blanc) tells the story of the first Cold War battle as never before. Giles Milton’s masterful work delves into the motivations and thoughts of key players whose decisions would profoundly influence our modern world – an influence that is still felt today.
